Job: Material Handler
Shift: Days (6am – 6:30pm)
Location: Royal Canin, Fremont, NE

The Material Handler's role functions as a member of an area team that is directly responsible for the efficient production of quality products in the required quantities. This role will operate/change over specified machinery in the assigned area. Material Handlers must ensure efficiency, operational conformance, product quality and continuous improvement. Material Handlers must have the skills set to train and/or perform the tasks of other associates in the area as needed. This job requires strong communication, interpersonal and team building skills to support site objectives.
Responsibilities
- Always operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Perform periodic and routine inventories of raw materials in storage
- Provide and perform routine maintenance checks on equipment
- Assist in other production, sanitation, maintenance, and quality activity in other areas as directed
- Perform housekeeping and sanitation procedures
- Provide functional communication with other staff members as necessary to optimize quality, efficiency, productivity and safety
- Loading trucks, live loads and staged loads
- Ability to operate Forklift – (Expert Level)
- Direct ship responsibility including proper disposition of hold product, food safety hold product and released product
- WMS, BOL responsibility / accountability
- Support Warehouse Area Lead with all activities associated with shipping department
- Standing on a concrete floor
- Sitting, getting up and down off of a forklift often
- Wearing proper personal protective equipment (hair net, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniform)
- Bending, stooping, twist, turn, standing for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 55lbs
- Must be able to adapt to temperature and environmental extremes such as hot to cold, dust dirt and chemicals
- Vision correctable to 20/20
Qualifications
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Have a High school diploma, GED or equivalent education
- Must be willing and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedules
- Ability to understand and effectively communicate in the English language
- Forklift certified
- Must have valid drivers license
- Knowledge of inventory computer systems WMS
- Food manufacturing experience and knowledge of food safety
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices
